Got a
Minute
Have you noticed how
a word can creep into a home or a school and becomes an epidemic. We have one of those words, my husband brought it
home, I caught it and now its completely out of control. The trouble with this habitual use of a word or phrase is
thedifficulty in shedding it, As soon as you try not to say it, it pops out all the time. In a way it shows us how
truly mindless a lot of our speech is. Try it; count how many times someone says the dreaded 'word' in their speech
in a ten minute conversation.
There have been lots of' these dreaded words over the years.
It used to be 'You know' or 'like' or 'Yeah' or 'and then' but right now it is 'probably'. When I was little my
sister who was a lot older than me got into the habit of saying 'Struth'. Mum used to fine her a shilling each time
she said it, considering we didn't get any pocket money this was a pretty nasty thing to do but by the time she had
run up a huge debt, payable in jobs, my sister realized she had a serious problem. I learned then to speak very
little and to choose what I said with great care.
Mantra Yoga teaches that the vitality of sound and thought
can have far reaching effects and that a few well-chosen words will always be remembered but a volume of words will
leave no lasting impression. As we speak we form thought patterns which become a framework for our words. If this
thought form is deep or intense the thought willtransmit itself first and the words that follow will emphasize the
idea or seed thought. These two things combined, transmits powerfully and this is what is meant by the power of the
word,
It therefore makes sense to be mindful of quantity and quality for
if we arc releasing powerful energies as we think and speak, a casual or careless chat once released into the
atmosphere around us, continues like an electrical impulse in the magnetic field of the planet. As it does this it
draws to it, by the law of attraction, energies of other thought or words of its own kind. This original thought/
word becomes amplified and intensified to such a degree that if we were to see our words and thoughts at this point
we would never believe what we have created. 'This would be fine if we have createdsomething wonderful but what if
we have been critical or judgmental or have indulged in a bit of' idle gossip or even worse lied.
We have set up a monster for which we are totally responsible and
which we will have to deal with in time. As the word can heal or the word can destroy we need to listen toourselves
sometime. You can do this by recording some of' your speech, thinking carefully before you speak, or by asking
someone to remind you if you are speaking negatively. One of the ways to use the word for good is by repetition. By
constant repetition a word with a consistent sound will form an image, and this image will in time take life from
the energy transmitted to it. This energy thought then becomes the response becomes the responsibility of its
creator.
If you wanted to raise the energy vibration around you or
heal yourself or change a situation you can try repetition of a word. Choose something that feels right for you.
Make sure that you know the true meaning of the word, words can be tricky we often use words believing they mean
one thing when really they mean something quite different. Think about the consequences of' this word and when you
go about your day bring it into your mind and speech on a regular basis. Then watch what happens around you and
amaze yourself with your creation.
